Minnewaska Area Schools Superintendent, LTC Chip Rankin, will be mobilized to active duty as the Commander of the 2nd Battalion 135th Infantry Regiment, Minnesota Army National Guard beginning in June of 2020 through May of 2021. Rankin serves as a Battalion Commander of 2-135 headquartered in Mankato. As a part of Task Force BAYONET, Rankin will mobilize in June to conduct security operations in East Africa. LTC Rankin has been a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard for 25-plus years with previous deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Due to this mobilization, Minnewaska Area Schools is seeking a full or part-time interim superintendent of schools to assume leadership of the district from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. Applications are due by 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, or until the position is filled, it was stated in a recent news release from MAS.
