Exceptions only for access to the first floor lobby and courts through courthouse’s east entrance
On March 19, 2020, the Pope County Coordinator in consultation with the Pope County Board Chair signed Administrative Order 202001, closing all Pope County buildings to the public during the health- related State of Emergency related to COVID-19 (or Coronavirus).
Pope County officials and staff will remain on duty during this public closure to continue addressing necessary county business.
During the current COVID-19 related State of Emergency, Pope County asks that members of the public instead use mail, phone calls, emails and other electronic means to conduct business with the county.
The Pope County website at www.co.pope.mn.us has contact information for all county offices. Those without access to specific office contact information can call our general number at (320) 634-7700 to be connected with staff able to address specific issues or questions. In emergencies, dial 911.
Pope County will also be providing a secure drop-off box for documents to be left for receipt by county staff. This box will be located in the first-floor lobby at the east entrance of the courthouse. Another will be located at the entrance to the Human Services and Public Health offices at the County Annex.
The East entrance will remain open to the public for access to law enforcement dispatch, as well as to the District Court offices via the lobby elevator to third floor where the courts are located.
While there is no evidence of COVID-19 presence in Pope County as of the date of this release, this is a reasonable precaution to mitigate community risk due to COVID-19 in the weeks to come.
At its next meeting, the Pope County Board will consider and assess the current closure measures.
