The annual family Winterama festival, which was set for Feb. 8 this year, has been canceled due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic. The official announcement of the cancellation was made last Monday.
Winterama is sponsored by Glenwood & Beyond and includes activities at Barsness Park, on Lake Minnewaska, at Lakeside Ballroom and in other parts of the community. A large portion of activities, about two-thirds, take place indoors, and due to COVID-19, the Glenwood & Beyond board determined it was unsafe to continue with the Winterama celebration, it was stated last week.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that it’s now vital to limit social contact and avoid gathering. For that reason, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Winterama 2021. While we know this is disappointing, we hope you can understand the steps we’re taking to help keep our community and attendees safe,” it was stated by Glenwood & Beyond board members. “We look forward to seeing you at Winterama in 2022!”
The Glenwood & Beyond group also thanked the local community for its interest in and support of the annual Winterama, “and for your understanding during these unprecedented times.”
