The weather last Thursday was more aligned with the calendar with sunny conditions and temperatures in the upper 50s during the mid-afternoon hours.  A couple of anglers took advantage of the calm, warm day to do some fishing just out from a shoreline piled high with ice.  The lake was not completely ice-free after that one day of spring, but was close.  Rain and warm temperatures and high winds on Friday and Saturday deteriorated the ice more and became the final blow for the transition to open water.  The lake was ice-free on Saturday, April 23.  See history of ice-free dates below…
