Highway 29 closed last Monday, April 11 as crews began to work on the MnDOT overpass project that will be constructed this summer.  Highway 29 will remain closed between County Road 28 (north of the intersection) and Highway 55 near Glenwood for most of the summer.  The detour will follow County Road 28 and Highway 55. Those traveling north or south to/from Starbuck will be directed to Highway 114.  Those traveling through Starbuck have noticed the detour signs directing them to Highway 114 if traveling north to Alexandria.  Highway 55 will remain open throughout the duration of construction as part of the detour. For the first two months, motorists will use the existing Highway 55 alignment. Then, in mid-June, when crews begin work on the south side of the overpass bridge and roundabout at 160th Street, traffic will officially be switched to the new alignment. In mid-June, crews will start working on the south side of the Highway 55 intersection. At that time, Highway 29 will close on both sides of Highway 55 for the remainder of the project (through October). The detour route to/from Glenwood will then be extended on Highway 55 and Highway 28 in Glenwood. There will be more information on the change by the end of May.
