Chamber meetings are the third Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the chamber office

Report from last week’s Starbuck Chamber meeting:

At last week’s meeting of the Starbuck Chamber of Commerce, six board members and four guests were present and 2022 Heritage Days preparation was the main topic on the agenda.

The board discussed and confirmed each Heritage Days event that the chamber hosts. All of the activities are scheduled including the peddle pull, balloon twister, inflatables, color run, fun run, rock coloring, kiddie parade, craft fair, parade, coronation, fireworks, and fly-in breakfast. The board is also working on some new activities.

Organizations that are planning events for Heritage Days please send your information to the chamber so it can be included in the schedule of events and advertising. The deadline to be included is May 15th. Invitations to participate in the parade and craft fair have been sent and letters for donations will be sent soon. All registration forms have been updated and can be found on the chamber website, starbuckmn.org.

In other action, the chamber is supporting a local effort for a Krispy Kreme Donut fundraiser planned for Memorial Day Weekend to fund the purchase of new beach equipment.

There are first dollar certificates that the chamber board will present to new businesses in the area. Next, a progress report for the Starbuck Brochure was presented. The Starbuck Brochure is in its final stages and will be ready for shipping soon. A design for Starbuck themed notecards was approved and an order placed. These will be sold by the chamber and local businesses.

The ad for the spring edition of the “At the Lake” publication was approved. Brang grant requests are due by May 1st. The chamber will submit two requests. The board heard an update to the plans for a Vintage and Artisan Market being held in the city park on August 5th and 6th.

The Friendly Garden Club needs volunteers to help with planting, weeding, and watering this summer. Contact Warren Hagestuen 320-239-2381 or Gary Swenson 715-220-6589 if you can help them out. We would all miss the flowers at the park, at the beach, and around town if they weren’t there.

As an additional benefit to being a chamber member, the chamber recently added a “Job Board” to its website. This is a listing of chamber member businesses that have job openings and are looking for help. If you have a job opening, send it to the chamber at starbuckchamber@hcinet.net with a description, your website, and contact information and we can list it for you. Or if you are looking for a new job, be sure to check the listings often.
