This year, 2022, marks a milestone for Starbuck as it is the 30th anniversary of the Grand Opening of the Starbuck Depot.  Five years of imagining, dreaming, careful planning, fundraising, hard work, and fun culminated in its opening on May 16, 1992.  The group of folks that started the effort had a well-deserved sense of pride and satisfaction at the time and it became the spark for a much bigger vision and on-going work in progress.  The saving and restoration of the Starbuck Depot building as well as the development of a blighted and abandoned rail yard area has served this community very well in many ways through the years.  It is a tribute to the people of Starbuck that have volunteered and served to make it all possible.

Much consideration has been given to having something new and unique at the Depot and how to make it another reason to visit Starbuck.  Several years ago, an idea was proposed for a Lefse Hall of Fame at the Depot given the notoriety of the World’s largest Lefse record and also the deep tradition of lefse making in Starbuck.  Hopes and plans for the “LHOF” had been on hold due to many concerns the world has been faced but now the plan is to have the grand opening in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Starbuck Depot Grand Opening on Saturday, May 21.
