Section 5A True Team

For the fourth time the Minnewaska girls’ Track & Field team has won the section True Team event.

The meet was held on Tuesday in Holdingford with a field of nine teams from Section 5A.

The Laker girls had seven first-place finishes on their way to a 40-point win over second-place Paynesville.

Minnewaska won three of the four relays and took first in the 200, 400, 800 and 1600 meter races.

The boys’ team won two relays and had a first place finish from Noah Danielson in the 400.

The boys’ team took fourth place and had three first-place finishes.

The Lakers will host a conference meet on Tuesday. On Saturday the girls will be in Stillwater for the State True Team meet. 

Minnewaska has fared well in the State True Team meet in recent years, taking third place in 2018, first in 2019 and second in 2021. The competition will be other section winners. Those winners were: 1A GMLOK, 2A Jackson County Central, 3A Luverne, 4A Concordia, 5A Minnewaska, 6A Osakis, 7A Pierz, 8A West Marshall. Wild Card teams: (These teams are decided with a paper pencil meet among the second and third place teams in the section. Results are used from their actual section meet.) Paynesville (of Section 5A), Lanesboro, Lake City and Canby.
