• Sarah Suchy and Amanda Ogdahl have been selected as 2022 Emerging Leaders. The Minnesota ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) affiliate has selected and is honored to welcome 10 people as its 2022 cohort of Emerging Leaders. The mission of Minnesota ASCD is to empower educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. The Emerging Leaders program is designed to promote collaborative learning and sharing, create opportunities for leadership, and build a connection to national ASCD authors. This group of powerful educators is expected to support and promote the mission of Minnesota ASCD, participate in and contribute to regular cohort meetings, plan and deliver professional development to educators statewide, and mentor the next group of Emerging Leaders.

• The school board would like to recognize the Elementary and Middle schools in Minnewaska that have an “Award-Winning Art Program”. Close to 50 Minnewaska artists had their artwork selected to be exhibited for an art show titled, “Mak”. This show was displayed at Gallery300, which is located at Alexandria Technical and Community College.

The show, “Mak!” was a juried show, meaning Minnewaska artists’ work was hand-picked by faculty in the Art Department at ATCC amongst all elementary students (K-6th) in their respective grades from Alexandria, Minnewaska, etc., etc.  Over 150 works from the surrounding area were selected to participate. Minnewaska artwork represented over 30% of this entire show!

Mak! was also a unique opportunity for students to exhibit because of their digital voting platform. People viewing the show were asked to vote for their favorite work in each grade (K-6th). Minnewaska had 2 works selected as

“People’s Choice” and one work selected as a “Judge’s Choice”.
