State Class A meet

The State Class A Track & Field meet went off on Thursday and Friday at St. Michael-Albertville High School. Minnewaska had athletes in eight different events, six for the girls and two for the boys.

The preliminaries were held on Thursday, with the top two finishers in each heat and the next five best times advancing to the finals. A total of nine would compete in each final.

All three Minnewaska girls runners advanced from the preliminaries to the finals.

Emily Kaiser finished eighth in the prelims and eighth in the finals of the 100 meter dash. McKenzie Luetmer took third in the 400 meter dash prelims, then moved up a spot in the finals and finished in second place, the highest finish of all the Minnewaska athletes. Olivia Danielson placed fifth in both the prelims and finals of the 800 meter run.

Both the 4×100 and 4×800 relay teams made the finals field, finishing eighth and third respectively.

In the boys’ events, Maeson Tank finished 13th in the prelims, missing the finals. The 4×100 relay team was disqualified in the prelims and failed to make the finals field.

Congratulations to the athletes and coaches of the Minnewaska Track & Field team on their making state and performing at a high level!
