Official Proceedings Pope County  Board of Commissioners  Special Board Meeting Tuesday, June 14, 2022 

The Pope County Board of Commissioners Special Board Meeting duly noticed for Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 9:30 AM at the Pope County Courthouse, 3rd Floor Board Room, 130 E Minnesota Avenue, Glenwood, MN 56334 was called to order by the Chair, Larry Lindor, at 9:31 AM, with the following Board Members also present: Paul Gerde, Nan Haggerty, Cody Rogahn, and Gordy Wagner.  Kersten Kappmeyer, County Administrator, was also present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 

A presentation on the Special Meeting’s duly-noticed topic, potential vegetation impacts associated with the County State Aid Highway 17 reconstruction project located approximately 1.8 miles northeast of CSAH 18 and continuing northeasterly to the intersection with Pezhekee Road, was made by Brian Giese, Engineer.

Upon the conclusion of the presentation, a Motion by Haggerty, seconded by Gerde, to open the Public Hearing per Minnesota Statute § 160.22 to discuss potential vegetation impacts associated with the County State Aid Highway 17 reconstruction project located approximately 1.8 miles northeast of CSAH 18 and continuing northeasterly to the intersection with Pezhekee Road, Carried Unanimously.  The Public Hearing was opened at 10:03 AM.  

Comments were offered by members of the public on their perspectives on the proposed potential impacts to vegetation along County State Aid Highway 17 during the Public Hearing, including comments from Karna Peters, Jennifer Kirkeby, Nancy Myrom, Diane Conner, Kecia Anderson, David Peters, Bill Peters, and Kevin Perrizo.  Comments included preferences as to particular vegetation to spare, shifts in road alignment, extent of impacts expected on remaining vegetation, concerns with speed, visibility, pavement widths, and project design.  There being no other comments offered on the subject of the Hearing, a Motion by Rogahn, seconded by Gerde, to close the Public Hearing Carried Unanimously.

The Public Hearing was closed and the special meeting was reconvened at 10:41 AM.

Discussion was held on the draft Resolution provided to the Board regarding the subject of the Public Hearing, with the Board giving direction to place consideration of the draft Resolution on the next regular Board agenda.

There being no other business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned by Chair Lindor at 10:54 AM.
