The Starbuck Stars punched out 10 hits, including a pair of home runs, to beat the Norway Lake-Sunburg Lakers 10-3 on Sunday in a County Line League amateur baseball game.

Homering for Starbuck were Aaron VerSteeg and Matt Gruber.

Gruber was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and four RBIs.

VerSteeg threw four scoreless innings and Colin Richards threw 2-2/3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Darion Alexander.

The Starbuck Stars defeated Clinton on the home field Friday night.

Clinton scored first with one run in the second inning, but the Starbuck Stars came back in the seventh to take the lead for good, scoring  seven runs in the inning.

Luke Barkeim singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run to get the inning started. Darion Alexander tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs, Mitchell Gruber singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Matt Gruber doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and Austin VerSteeg singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Andrew Toop recorded the win for Stars. The righty went five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out eight. Austin VerSteeg started the game for the Stars. The pitcher surrendered two runs on one hit over three innings, striking out three.

The Stars racked up 14 hits. Alexander, Austin VerSteeg, Toop and Michael Gruber each had multiple hits for the Stars. Alexander led with three hits in five at bats.

Starbuck Stars 1  Moorhead 11

Starbucks fell to the Moorhead Mudcats Saturday night on the home field.

Starbuck Stars collected seven hits in the game.

Drew Olsonawski started the game for Starbuck Stars and surrendered five runs on two hits over two and a third innings, striking out three.  Darion Alexander and Aaron VerSteeg entered the game as relief, throwing three and two-thirds innings and two innings respectively.

This week, the Stars take on Raymond on Wednesday and Kensington on Saturday, both at home, both starting at 7:30 p.m. The Stars will then travel to Regal on Sunday for a 1:30 p.m. game.
