New London 7 Starbuck 1

On Friday night in Spicer the Stars played New London for the second time in just under two weeks. The first meeting was a mess for the Twins’ pitchers as Starbuck took a 7-4 win at Marthaler Field.

On Friday night the New London pitching was spot on, allowing just a first inning run and five hits as the Twins took a 7-1 victory.

Starbuck got a first inning triple from Darion Alexander and an RBI single from Matt Gruber. But after that there was very little production from the Stars’ offense.

New London matched the Stars first inning run with one of their own in the bottom of the first. A pair of runs by the Twins in the bottom of the fifth gave them a 3-1 lead that would hold up to the end. For good measure New London racked up four more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and finished on top, 7-1.

The Gruber brothers accounted for four of the Stars’ five hits.
