Filing for election to Pope County offices came to an end at 5 p.m. last Thursday and there is just one race in the three county commissioner districts open for election this fall.

Incumbent Pope County Commissioner Cody Rogahn, who represents District 5, had two challengers file for that position, which will spark a primary election to narrow it to two candidates.   Bruce Harvey and Paul Wildman joined Rogahn in filing for the seat.

In County Commissioner District 4, currently represented by Larry Lindor, Lindor was the sole filer and is running unopposed.  Also running unopposed for the County Commissioner District 1 seat is first-time filer Paul Gremmels, the only one to file for that position.   Nan Haggerty, who currently represents District 1 did not file for re-election.

Only incumbents filed for the other positions open for election this fall including: Stepahie Rust for County Auditor/Treasurer; Sarah Green for County Recorder; Tim Riley for Pope County Sheriff; and Neil Nelson for Pope County Attorney.
