Pope County Museum Notes

From the Pope County Tribune, Thursday, July 27, 1922.

There is a young businessman in our city that believes in going after what he wants. “Bill” Thompson, manager of the Glenwood Laundry, is becoming known as a hustler. Morris, Cyrus, Starbuck, Sportz and Spring cottages are visited for laundry on Monday. Deliveries are made Thursday; collections are also made on this day for Sunday delivery. Trips are also made along the other shore of the lake.  The considerable business increase resulting from this service, proves that “Go Get’ Em” is still a good business slogan.

Next Sunday will witness the fulfillment of a long cherished hope of Glenwood Methodists, when their splendid new church edifice will be dedicated. Bishop Charles Bayard Mitchell and Rev. W. C. Lee will preach. A large number are expected to attend these meetings and hear these men. It will be a big day for members of this church in Glenwood.

The Immanuel Congregation will celebrate their Golden Jubilee and also dedicate the new church next Sunday. A large tent has been put up for the afternoon services as it is not expected the church will be large enough to accommodate all who will wish to attend.

The Starbuck ball team, now composed of only local players, will go to Hoffman next Sunday to play. Noel Johnson will be on the mound and “Shaky” Stenson behind the bat.
