Ryland Martin started on the mound at Marthaler Field on Tuesday, throwing five innings and allowing two runs on just three hits. He struck out three.

The Starbuck Junior Legion baseball team fell to Morris 3-5 at Marthaler Field last Tuesday and then dropped another close one to New London-Spicer 2-3 to end their playoff hopes.

At the home field, Starbuck stayed in the game until the end, but Morris pulled away late in the game.  Morris trailed 3-2 in the top of the six inning when they scored two runs to take the lead 5-3.  Starbuck out-hit Morris, however, eight hits to four.

Austin Ballhagen took the loss for Starbuck surrendering three runs on one hit over one-third of an inning. 

Ryland Martin started on the mound and went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three.  

Dylan Alexander and Jack Majerus each had two hits to lead Starbuck offensively.

Starbuck  traveled to Bird Island  on Friday to take on NL-S and again lost the lead late in the game suffering a tough  3-2 defeat.  The game was tied at 1 in the top of the fifth when NL-S scored.

Starbuck got on the board in the second inning when Alex Panitzke singled to score the first run.   NL-S evened things up in the top of the third.  

Levi Johnson took the loss for Starbuck, giving up three runs on seven hits over his five innings of work. He struck out five batters.

Dylan Alexander, Ryland Martin and Panitzke each had one hit.
