Dr. Anthony Hacker

Glacial Ridge Health System (GRHS) welcomed Dr. Anthony Hacker to the family medicine and obstetrics team in Glenwood, it was announced this week.

Dr. Hacker enjoys many aspects of family medicine, but it’s mostly being able to provide continuity of care. “In family medicine, we build relationships with patients and get to know their medical history and what’s most important to them,” said Dr. Hacker in a news release from GRHS. “I had a great relationship with my primary care doctor growing up and wanted to be the same for others.” Dr. Hacker’s approach to medical care is to empower patients to be involved in their treatment plans. He provides information on their condition and explains options so they can make informed decisions.

Dr. Hacker’s experience and medical interests include family medicine, obstetrics, emergency and inpatient medicine, sports medicine, and dermatology.

Upon graduating from Alexandria, Dr. Hacker graduated cum laude in chemistry from North Dakota State University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and completed his family medicine residency in St. Cloud. There he had multiple responsibilities including patient care in obstetrics, inpatient, and outpatient settings. Additionally, Dr. Hacker had a leadership role in quality improvement and was an alternate delegate for the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) House of Delegates during his residency.

Dr. Hacker said he is happy to be back in the area – closer to extended family. He especially likes spending time outdoors and on the lake with his wife Kassy and two sons. Other activities he enjoys are playing guitar, weightlifting, fishing, hunting, and trying new foods.
