Connor Quelle (3) battles with a pair of opponents for possession of the ball as Dalton Peterson (11) tries to help out for the Lakers.

The Minnewaska Area soccer team was shut out during a 3-0 home loss to Prinsburg CMCS last Tuesday night.  The Bluejays went up 2-0 by halftime and added one more goal in the second half.

The Lakers, who fell to 0-2, were also set to play at Fergus Falls, Thursday, and results of that match will be highlighted next week.

Minnewaska Area, which was 9-6 last year, including a 7-2 mark in the Granite Ridge Conference, is also set to host St. John’s Prep, Tuesday (tomorrow), play at St. Cloud Cathedral, Thursday, and host Pelican Rapids, Saturday at noon.

The Lakers outshot the visitors, 13-6, but Prinsburg made the most of its shots during a 3-0 victory over Minnewaska Area last Tuesday at home.

Drew Duininck scored the game’s first goal in the 21st minute of action, and Caleb Vogt scored the final two goals for the Bluejays at the 35th and 49th minutes of play.

Tenzin Dahl made 10 saves for the Lakers, while the CMCS goalie made six saves.

“We were technically not really good on the ball,” said Laker head coach Ted Hill.  “We handed the ball over in really bad spaces way too often.  CMCS is very athletic and did a very nice job of taking advantage of turnovers in bad space.”
