“Our breaststrokers placed first through third with Lyla Stadtherr coming in 1st with a new section-qualifying time, and there were lots of other new section-qualifying times and both the JV and varsity teams pulling off wins.”

•  In the JV competition at Montevideo, also won by the Lakers, winning titles for the Gators were Gabby Schneider in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:32.82) and the 400 yard freestyle relay team of Sadie Daniels, Hayden Fadness, Maria Heidelberger and Abbigail Peterson (3:21.22).

Albany 59, Gators 43

The Gators lost their first dual meet of the season with a 59-43 loss at Albany last Tuesday night.  The Gators did win six of the 12 events, but Albany’s depth proved too much to overcome.

Clare Barnstuble earned a title in the diving event with a score of 172.2 and Ella Roering placed second (149.65).  McKenzie Luetmer continued her great fall season with a title in the 100 freestyle (58.84) and was also a member of two winning relays, while Mesa Kittelson won the 100 butterfly (1:14.15) and Lyla Stadtherr placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.83).

Winning the 200 freestyle relay was the Gators’ team of Soffia Stadtherr, Melena Longtin, Serena Mellgren and Luetmer (1:52.52) and winning the 400 freestyle relay was the team of Becca Femrite, Longtin, Mellgren and Luetmer (4:08.66).

“We didn’t get the victory, but we are still seeing time drops which is awesome!” coach Oellien said.  “Isabelle Emmert dropped 10 seconds in her 200 Free to place in JV, the 500 swimmers continue to chip away time, the freestyle relays were able to pull off first place finishes and the divers had a great night as well.”

•  In the JV competition, Albany also prevailed 65-31.  Winning the only title for the Gators in the JV meet was Makarian Schott in the diving competition (135.95).
