With the winter sports season drawing near, the Laker Activities Department is scheduled to hold a winter sports meeting, Monday, Nov. 14.  The meeting will give the Laker Activities Department an opportunity to deliver a unified message about our activities and provide coaches an opportunity to cover important details about the upcoming season.  Laker winter sports to be addressed are wrestling, boys and girls basketball, and dance.

As mentioned, the 2022-23 Minnewaska Laker Winter Sports Meeting is set for 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14 at Minnewaska Area High School in the auditorium.

At that time, Minnewaska Area Activities Director Phil Johnsrud will introduce the Laker coaching staff and speak briefly about important topics for athletes and parents/guardians.  Immediately following, there will be breakout sessions for each program led by the head coach and their assistants beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Until Nov. 14, keep in mind all student athletes going into 7th and 10th grade need physicals to participate in a MSHSL sport. If your student athlete does not have an up-to-date physical or is entering 7th or 10th grade, please make an appointment with your local health provider to do so as student athletes will not be able to practice until a physical with documentation is submitted.

Also, online registration for Laker Activities must also be completed before opening day of practice. Online registration is currently open by using the following link on the Minnewaska Area Schools website: https://minnewaskahs-ar.rschooltoday.com/

•  On a side note, junior high girls basketball officially begins on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Minnewaska Area High School.  A separate meeting will take place Oct. 25 for junior high girls basketball players, coaches and their parents/guardians beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the MAHS main gymnasium.

Parents and participants of the junior high girls program WILL NOT NEED TO ATTEND THE MEETING ON NOVEMBER 14TH.

Anyone with questions may call the Minnewaska Area Activities Department at 239-1305.
