The City of Glenwood accepted the retirement notices of five long-time and key city employees earlier this fall and honored those employees with a public open house last Thursday at Lakeside Ballroom.

The five have a combined 162 years of service to the city of Glenwood.

Public Works Director Dave Perryman has worked for the city for 36 years and will retire at the end of this month.

The city’s Finance Director Brenda Sargent has  worked for the city 26 years and will retire at the end of the year.

City Attorney Bruce Obenland, who has worked on legal matters for the city over the past 50 years, retired in July.

City Library Director Leslie Randall, who has worked at the city’s library in Glenwood for 27 years, will retire in January, 2022.

City Office worker Kim Kremin, who worked for the city for 23 years, also retired recently.

All five city employees  continue to help, or will help with training their replacements to ensure a smooth transition, according to City Administrator Dave Iverson.

The open house on Thursday was open to the public and was well attended by the community.

All five were presented with plaques commemorating their service to the city of Glenwood.
