It was Homecoming week at Minnewaska Area High School last week, including the powderpuff football game on Veterans Field at MAHS last Sunday night. In a tight and entertaining battle, the senior class edged the juniors, 26-22.  Kiearra Wilmes and Conner Stein were crowned Minnewaska Area Schools Homecoming queen and king at a ceremony last Monday that helped kick-off the 2022 Homecoming festivities. The entire court included eight girls and seven boys. In the back row from left are: Hunter Kloos, Nick Ankeny, PJ Johnson, Mikalyn Andreas, Elsey Hagen, Mason Anderson, Michael Bayer and Aaron Feigum. In the front row from left are: Serena Mellgren, Grace Jensen, Kiearra Wilmes, Conner Stein, McKenzie Luetmer, Noa Beckwith and Makena Thoen.

There were a number of other events scheduled during the week, including the Homecoming Parade, Friday afternoon.  And, it all came to a climax Friday night with the Lakers taking on the Rockford Rockets.  Prior to the start of the game, the area Color Guard marched on to the field and the MAHS Pep Band played the National Anthem, which ended with fireworks going off at the south end of the field.  During halftime, the MAHS Athletic Hall of Fame inductees were introduced and the night ended with more fireworks and the Homecoming dance.
