Three members of the Minnewaska Area volleyball team were named to the All-Conference team for 2022.

Earning All-WCC honors were juniors Avery Fier, Dreya Barsness and Haley Shea, who were all key members of the Lakers’ team which went 13-15 overall this season and 8-6 in the WCC to place third of eight teams.

Sauk Centre won this year’s conference race with a perfect 14-0 record, followed by BOLD (11-3), Minnewaska Area (8-6), Melrose, Morris Area-CA and West Central Area (all 7-7), Montevideo (2-12) and Benson (0-14).

Sauk Centre, BOLD and Minnewaska Area each had three All-Conference selections, while Melrose, West Central Area and Morris Area-CA all had two athletes, and Benson and Montevideo both had one.

Minnewaska, coached by Michele Johnson, doesn’t lose anyone from this year’s team to graduation.

The Lakers ended the season with a four-game loss to Paynesville in the sub-section finals.
