The Minnewaska Area girls basketball team won their fifth game in their last seven games with a 35-33 victory at Litchfield last Saturday.  The Lakers improved to 5-9 overall with their latest win. 

Minnewaska Area was also set to play at Morris Area-CA last Tuesday and at BOLD, Friday, but results of those two games will be highlighted in next week’s paper.  This week, Minnewaska Area was set to host Montevideo, Tuesday (tomorrow) before playing at Sauk Centre, Thursday, and hosting Redwood Valley, Saturday.

Lakers 35, Litchfield 33

Sydney Dahl and Brooke Kolstoe led the Lakers to a 35-33 victory at Litchfield last Saturday.  Dahl had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Kolstoe added eight points, five boards and two steals.

Those two were 10-of-18 from the field, while the rest of the Lakers were a combined 6-of-30.  Overall, Minnewaska Area shot 33 percent from the field (16-for-48), including a frigid 3-of-18 from three-point range and 0-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Jayda Kolstoe chipped in with five points and three rebounds for the Lakers, who are 2-3 in the conference, while Megan Thorfinnson also had five points to go along with two rebounds and two steals, Olivia Bleick hit a 3-pointer for three points, Leslie Murken had two points, two assists and two rebounds, and Addyson Kath, seeing her first action of the season after starting out the season injured, had three rebounds, one assist and one steal in limited action.  The Lakers led 21-15 at halftime before the two teams combined for just 32 points in the second half.
