Glenwood City Commissioners approved a request from Glenwood Rotary Club to conduct a fundraiser to replace the wood picnic tables at City Park with polysteel picnic tables.  The Rotary club hopes to add 12 tables to the park, including two ADA assessable tables.

Glenwood Rotary President Jordan McMahon told commissioners that the club was pursuing donations for the tables, stating that the cost would be $1,200 per table, “which just covers our cost.”  She said there would be no cost to the city.  “We’re just looking for permission to pursue the fundraising for the tables.

Those who sponsor the tables will get a small plaque that will go on the table top.  McMahon said she had some preliminary interest in sponsorships from community businesses and said she expects that the new tables could be in the park by early this summer.

Commissioner Todd Gylsen suggested that if the Rotary sold more than 12 tables some could be located at Barsness park.  He also suggested that the sponsored tables not be limited to businesses, but include families as well.

Commissioner Mavis Pattee said she “thought it was a great idea, and suggested that the color of the tables be more nature neutral.”  The color of the tables is a dark blue table with a black base.
