Two members of the Minnewaska Area boys basketball team were recently named to the All-Conference boys basketball team for 2022-23.

Senior Hunter Kloos earned All-Conference for the Lakers this season, while senior PJ Johnson was selected to the honorable mention team.

Kloos led the Lakers in scoring with 339 points, averaging 14.1 points per game, and also had team-highs of 14 blocks and 37 steals, while pulling down 95 rebounds and dishing out 30 assists.  Johnson scored 169 points, averaging 6.5 points per game.  He also had a second-best 83 assists, 90 rebounds and 28 steals this season.

Sauk Centre, which won this year’s league title with a 12-2 record, had four players named to the 17-member All-Conference team, while West Central Area had three, Morris Area-CA, Montevideo, Melrose Area and BOLD each had two, and Benson and Minnewaska Area both had one.

WCA finished second in the WCC this season with a 10-4 record, followed by Morris Area (9-4), Melrose Area (9-5), BOLD (7-6), Montevideo (6-8), Benson (2-12) and Minnewaska Area (0-14).

Sauk Centre’s Jay Neubert was named the league MVP for 2022-23.

The Laker boys basketball team was set to host its season-ending banquet Monday, March 27 (today).  Next week, we’ll highlight the team awardwinners from the banquet.
