The Minnewaska Area boys golf team opened up the new season last weekend with a pair of away meets at Blue Earth and Hayfield.  

The opening WCC boys and girls golf doubleheader, scheduled for last Friday at BOLD and Montevideo was postponed until Friday, May 12.  

And, a WCC golf doubleheader at Morris and WCA, set for Tuesday, April 25, has been partially postponed.  The Morris course is unplayable so the teams will wait until Tuesday, May 16 to play there, but they will still golf at WCA, Tuesday (tomorrow).

The boys are also set to golf at the NLS-Willmar Invitational this Friday and Saturday, while the girls golf team is set to compete at the Alexandria Invitational, Wednesday, April 26.

The boys golf team is coached this spring by Dave Drexler, while the girls team is coached by Tony Janu.  Assistants this year for golf are Dion Harste (boys), Sarah Iverson (girls) and Brett Thorfinnson (junior high).

During the boys golf opener, the Lakers went with a lineup of Zach Gugisberg, Riley Larson, Blake Nelson, Garrett Jungclaus, Chase Walker and Ethan Peterson.

Gugisberg was the meet medalist during the opening meet at Blue Earth and also placed second at the Hayfield Invitational.
