Minnewaska Area Schools recently announced that Angie VanZee has been appointed as the district’s new Community Education Director, beginning July 1, 2025. VanZee will succeed long-time director Bill Mills, who is retiring after a distinguished career of service to the district and community.
VanZee brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools. She will continue to work part-time in that capacity while assuming her new responsibilities as Community Education Director. The new position will be structured as a .7 FTE for Community Education and .3 FTE for Superintendent support, it was stated.
MAS Superintendent Chip Rankin expressed confidence in VanZee’s ability to lead the Community Education department, stating, “Angie’s dedication and experience make her an excellent choice to continue and expand upon the programs that have been a vital part of our community.”
During her time with Minnewaska Area Schools, VanZee has played an integral role in program development, communications, and community outreach. She has already earned her licensure as a Community Education Director and is committed to growing programming and partnerships that serve learners of all ages, according to a news release from MAS.
Bill Mills’ impact on Minnewaska Area Schools cannot be overstated. Throughout his tenure, he created and supported countless programs that have enriched the lives of students and community members alike. His legacy will continue to benefit the district for years to come.
VanZee shared, “I’m honored to take on this role and continue serving a district and community I deeply care about. I look forward to working with staff, families, and community members to grow and strengthen our Community Education offerings.”
