SPECIAL WORK SESSION MINUTES

The Minnewaska Area Schools Board of Education met in special session on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in the Minnewaska Area High School Media Center. The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Chairperson Barsness. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Members Present: Barsness, T. Reichmann, Zavadil, Moeller

Members Absent: Ogdahl, Lagred, A. Reichmann

Motion by Zavadil, seconded by T. Reichmann, to approve the agenda as presented. 

Roll Call Vote: Aye: Barsness, T. Reichmann, Zavadil, Moeller

Nay: None

Motion carried.

Superintendent Chip Rankin reviewed the current progress on the district’s strategic roadmap. The update included accomplishments to date, ongoing priorities, and next steps as the district prepares to renew and revise the plan beyond 2025.

High School Principal Nate Meissner shared a summary of focus areas and overall priorities for Minnewaska Area High School. 

Middle School Principal Blake Karas provided an overview of key goals for the middle school.

Elementary School Principal Sarah Suchy outlined the elementary school’s areas of focus for the year ahead. 

W.I.N. Academy Principal Susan Knutson presented goals for the WIN Academy.

Ben Berry from Wold Architects attended the session and provided an overview of proposed facility projects that would move forward if the upcoming bond is approved during the November special election. The presentation included a summary of potential improvements across the district, including safety upgrades, infrastructure needs, and enhancements to support early learning and long-term growth. The board engaged in discussion about project scope, timelines, and ongoing community outreach efforts.

Motion by T. Reichmann, seconded by Moeller, to adjourn the meeting at 5:46 p.m. Motion Carried.
