The Minnewaska Area track and field teams qualified 16 events to the State Track Meet, set for June 10-11 at St. Michael-Albertville.  The Laker girls qualified 12 athletes in 10 separate events while the Laker boys will be sending nine athletes in six events.

Minnewaska Area had four titles by Jayda Kolstoe in the discus, Nori Song in the 800, and the 1600 and 3200 meter relays on the way to winning the girls team title at the Section 6A Meet with 100 points while runner-up Pelican Rapids at 56 points.

The boys team meanwhile, did not win any titles, but still came home with 70 points to place fourth behind Sauk Centre (117 points), Osakis (91) and Staples-Motley (84).

Competing at state for the girls team will be Ankeny in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, Jayda Kolstoe in the shot put and discus, Nori Song in the 800, Aubrey Polzin in the high jump, and the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 meter relays.  

Members of the 400 meter relay at Emma Hellerman, Dacia Fleury, Allison Curry and Mya VanLuik and members of the 800 relay are Hellerman, Fleury, VanLuik and Ellie Winter.  In addition, competing on the Laker 1600 meter relay team are Fleury, Song, Olivia Danielson and Ankeny, and competing with the 3200 meter relay are Ella Larson, Maia Larson, Danielson and Song.

For the boys, Owen Meulebroeck advanced to state in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Asante Adams qualified in the 200, Ian Mills will compete in the 3200, and the 400 and 3200 meter relay teams also advanced.  

Members of the 400 meter relay team are Tristan O’Neil, Kaiden Harvey, Carter Meyer and Adams, and competing with the 3200 meter relay are Luke Hoffmann, Rylan Tank, Mills and Zach Palmer.

State preliminaries are set for Tuesday, June 10, along with finals for the boys and girls 3200 meter run at 6:54 p.m. and finals for the girls long jump, boys triple jump, boys pole vault, girls high jump, boys shot put and girls discus.

Class A finals in all the other events are set to begin at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 11.
