Gloria Terhaar, the daughter of Henry and Theresia (Schramel) Weimerskirch, was born at home on a farm near Belgrade. She attended school in Belgrade through 10th grade.

On May 17, 1948, Gloria was united in marriage to Clifford Terhaar at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Belgrade. After their marriage, the couple made their home and farmed near Sedan. In 1951, Clifford and Gloria purchased a farm and moved to Lowry, where they raised their nine children.

Gloria was a devoted Catholic and served the church by teaching religion classes, serving on the parish council, making floral arrangements for the altar, regularly leading the rosary and was also active with Christian Mothers. She served on the Pope County Counsel of Aging and provided home health aid for several years.

Gloria was an excellent cook, baker and seamstress. Her green thumb was evident with her bountiful garden, beautiful flowerbeds and healthy houseplants. She had an artistic flare and enjoyed painting ceramics and doing crafts. Gloria made countless quilts for charities and for every one of her nine children and numerous grandchildren. Though sensible and practical, Gloria had a quick wit and good sense of humor.
