Local government in Minnesota is non-partisan and powered by everyday community members who step up to serve. This month, we highlight several events and opportunities for you to help shape the future of Long Beach.
One shining example of that spirit is Patia Jensen, who answered the call when she was appointed to fill a vacant City Clerk position. She served out that term and went on to be elected twice more, serving the City of Long Beach with integrity and grace. Now, Patia has resigned to focus on her new full-time professional role and her family. We thank her sincerely for her years of dedicated service and for helping bring meaningful improvements to our community. It has been an honor to serve alongside her.
With Patia’s departure, Long Beach has several new openings for residents to get involved:
•The City Clerk position will be appointed to serve until a special election is held in November 2026.
•We are looking to add three community members to the Planning Commission.
•We are also considering forming a new Parks Board, with up to three seats available for residents to serve.
All of these are part-time, paid positions. If you’re curious or considering service, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming open house sessions in May to learn more and ask questions.
