The Glenwood Lions Club hosted speaker Brenda Thomson, District Executive, Prairie Fire District #2 of the Northern Lights Boy Scouts at their April monthly meeting at Captains Bar and Grill last week.
Brenda shared the overall basics of the current Boys Scouts of America organization, its regional districts, and local clubs in West Central Minnesota. She also reviewed the scouts’ mission statement and the scout oath and law. Lion members were very interested in learning about the desired characteristics of a scout. The traits include being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
Glenwood has supported the Northern Lights Boy Scouts council local district for many years. After Brenda’s interesting presentation, President Mark Thompson presented her with their annual financial contribution (times two).
Glenwood Lions Club meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Captains at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and program at 6:00 p.m. If interested in visiting with or joining the Lions, please contact President Mark Thompson (320-808-5852) or Lions Club Secretary Jerry Wright, wrightsj@charter.net.
