April 21 at Minnewaska

Melrose 13 Minnewaska 0 Game 1 

The Minnewaska softball team ended a 10-day layoff after their opening game at YME by hosting Melrose for a doubleheader on Thursday.

In the first game the Dutchmen scored a run in the first inning, then went on to score in each of the next four innings, accumulating 13 runs over a five-inning span.

The Lakers threatened but were unable to get a runner across the plate, falling by a 13-0 score in five innings.

Leslie Murken had a good game at the plate, going 2-2 and rapping a double. Brenna Larson went the distance as the Lakers’ pitcher, striking out five over the five inning stint.

Melrose 11 Minnewaska 0 Game 2 

Game two of the doubleheader had Melrose batting as the home team. The Dutchman scored a pair of runs in the first inning, then tacked on eight more in the third.

The Melrose pitcher was able to keep any Lakers from getting a hit. The only base runner came via walk to Leslie Murken. Melrose completed the sweep with an 11-0 victory.

Minnewaska is scheduled to play three home games this week, weather permitting. On Monday NL-S pays a visit. Tuesday will have Benson in for a doubleheader, followed by Sauk Centre on Thursday.
