Singers, Songwriters, and Storytelling to be featured at Makers’ Market in June, July and August 2022
Glenwood is known as a city whose residents love the outdoors. As we welcome the warmer months of the year, the team at Central Square is moving their Makers’ Market outdoors from June through August.
These outdoor events will allow local makers to show off their wares in a lively setting and will include singer-songwriter music events during each market. From jewelry to home décor, to gallery worthy art, the Central Square Makers’ Markets present a great opportunity to support local artists and makers and pick up some unique, hand-made items. There will be food and drinks available, as well.
The Makers’ Markets will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. At 11:30 a.m., music-makers and fans are invited to bring their guitars and join the singer-songwriters in a free songwriters’ circle on the Central Square lawn. Morning Bird, Terry Klein, Sarah Morris, Matt Fockler, and David Stoddard will join Charlie Roth and interested visitors in a circle for an hour-long creative session prior to their show, and discuss the art of storytelling, the craft of writing, and creativity. Songs, stories, and interactions will be part of the show. All Makers’ Market attendees are invited to join in the circle. It will be a wonderful chance to meet others in the greater songwriting community, perhaps swap songs and network. This is an exclusive opportunity to learn about songwriting, composition, and lyrical techniques from professional music makers.
Executive director of Central Square, Cheryl Larson, says, “Our team is passionate and driven about making Central Square a home for artists and audiences alike. These intimate acoustic performances will feature working professional singers and songwriters swapping songs and telling the stories behind them, and the Songwriter Circle gives aspiring songwriters the opportunity to share their talent and connect with creatives in a safe and inspiring space. There is something truly special about gathering with others to support artisans and makers in the community. We are lucky to have this resource in Pope County!” said Marie Chan, Program Director for Central Square.
