Riley Larson, fresh off a 69 the previous week at Buffalo Lake, shot a team-best 77 on Thursday.

The Minnewaska boys’ golf team began their section tournament play on Thursday at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake. The second of two rounds will be held on Wednesday.

The Bluejackets were slated to begin section play on Wednesday, but cold, wet weather pushed the first of two rounds to the following Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Lakers boys are right in the hunt, just six shots back of New London-Spicer after the first of two rounds.

Minnewaska was led by Riley Larson, with a 77, followed closely by Zach Gugisberg and Hunter Kostelecky, with each shooting 79.

The Lakers will try to make up ground on Wednesday when they tee it up for the second and final round.
