The Minnewaska boys’ tennis team dropped their final two matches of the regular season, but will still have the #1 seed at the section tournament that begins on Monday. The matches will be at Minnewaska, beginning on Monday afternoon and going through Wednesday.

May 17 at Sartell

Minnewaska 7 Sartell 0 

On Tuessday the boys’ tennis team was in Sartell for a triangular along with Foley.

The Lakers opened with the host team and drubbed them, taking a 7-0 victory. Tate Reichmann posted the only 6-0, 6-0 win, playing at #1 singles. 

Two matches went three sets, with Minnewaska prevailing in each. Connor Quelle had to work hard at #3 singles to get a victory after winning the first set, losing the second, then outscoring his opponent, 15-13, in the deciding set.

The doubles duo of Alec Larson and Riley Thorfinnson rallied from a 6-1 loss in the second set to win the third set, 10-7, giving them the match and giving the Lakers a clean sweep. 

May 17 @ Sartell

Foley 4 Minnewaska 3 

The second match at Sartell pitted the Lakers against Foley. The Falcons won the only match that went three sets, which made the difference in the final team score.

Tate Reichmann and Ethan Quelle won their singles matches, as did Connor Quelle and Tenzin Dahl at #2 doubles.   

May 19 @ Fergus Falls

Thief River Falls 5 Minnewaska 2 

Minnewaska wrapped up their week with a match against Thief River Falls, played at Fergus Falls.

TRF prevailed on the strength of a sweep in doubles, with two of the matches requiring a third set. The Lakers only wins came at #1 singles, by Tate Reichmann, and at #3 singles, by Ethan Quelle.
