Minnewaska Spring Concerts

The Minnewaska Area Schools showcased so many of their students’ talents during the Spring Band and Choir concerts. The high school spring choral concert was held on Sunday, May 22, and featured several ensembles as well as the varsity and concert choirs. Several soloists were chosen to sing with the choirs. The musical genres ranged from classical chorale selections to Disney songs to popular music like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
The fifth through eighth grade students presented their concerts on Monday, May 23. With Gordy Moeller at the helm, the theme was Disney for the evening. The fifth-grade students did a medley from The Little Mermaid and the sixth grade sang a medley from The Lion King. The seventh-grade choir featured a medley of Disney classics that included Be Our Guest, Bare Necessities and Spoonful of Sugar. Their final song, My Lord, was accompanied by their classmate Riley Spindler. The eighth-grade choir’s Disney theme was called Disney Showstoppers and included Be Our Guest, You’ve Got a Friend in Me and Under the Sea. The junior high jazz choir presented a Disney Spectacular featuring Taylor Scott, Oliver VanderHagen and Tysen Metz with solos.
The MAHS varsity and concert bands had their year-end performance on Monday, May 16, under the direction of Heidi Polzin. The night’s theme was upbeat music with great rhythms.
