Minnewaska’s Track & Field team participated in their first of two meets of the week when they hosted an eight-team invitational on Tuesday.
The girls’ team from Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball edged out the Lakers’ girls for first place on the strength of three relay wins.
Olivia Danielson and Sydnie Chevalier were the queens of long distance, winning the 1600 and the 3200 respectively.
Jayda Kolstoe had a good day in the field, winning both the shot put and the discus.
DeShon Boyd was a force for the Minnewaska boys, who finished second in the eight-team field. Boyd won the 100 and 200 meter runs as well as the long jump to help the boys’ team to a second place finish behind Sauk Centre.
Maeson Tank took the 1600 and the Lakers placed first in two of the four relays.

May 5 at New London-Spicer
The Laker Track & Field teams were at New London-Spicer High School for the Little Crow Invitational on Thursday. Comfortable temperatures made for a good meet, for athletes and fans alike.
The Minnewaska girls ran into the same Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball team that had defeated them on Tuesday. The result was the same, with the Lakers finishing in second.
The boys had a rough time, unable to get any first place finishes on the way to a seventh place finish in the 10-team field.
