What is the real Main Street?
From the Pope County Tribune, Thursday, May 25, 1922.
Memorial Day has always been observed in Glenwood and this year, as usual, committees are on the job getting everything ready for the day. The parade will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. in front of the court house. Following is the line of march: Band, Colors, Firing Squad, Civil War Veterans, Spanish War Veterans, World War Veterans, Ladies of the G.A.R, American Legion Auxiliary, school children and others.

From the Glenwood Herald, Thursday, May 25, 1922.
There is a rivalry between the business men of Minnesota Avenue and Franklin Street. Each one of these streets claims that it is Main Street. Lately, Franklin Avenue has begun calling itself Main Street.
Main Street now claims that is has gotten Minnesota Avenue’s goat and to prove it, they are going to show not only the goat, but two of them, on Main Street next Saturday, during community day. All will be interested in seeing these goats and if you are really unlucky, you may draw one. Come in and see the goat next Saturday. They will be the real stuff, goatee and all.
The employees of the Northern Pacific railroad at Brainerd will hold their annual picnic in Glenwood this year. There will be about two thousand people including men, women and children and the park here will be turned over to them for the day of June 17. These people were here last year also and Glenwood is very glad to welcome them again.

From the Starbuck Times, Friday, May 26, 1922.
Torguson & Hippe plan to put their store on a cash basis commencing next Thursday. They have had the matter under consideration for a long time, and finally decided this would be the better method.
“People are looking for lower prices on merchandise.” Mr. Torguson said yesterday, “and we cannot make the prices lower and continue the credit business. We are going to try to put this idea into operation. We believe people want to get into the habit of paying cash, and making their money buy more and that people will appreciate our stand and back us up.”
