Minnewaska 18 NL-S 14
The Minnewaska softball team opened the week at New London-Spicer and came away with a wild 18-14 victory
By the end of three innings the Lakers held a 7-1 lead, but a big five-run fifth inning for the Wildcats tied the game up at 8-8.
The Lakers responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. With one out Brenna Larson, Leslie Murken and Jenna Drewes each singled, with Larson and Murken scoring on the single by Drewes. Leah Hagen was hit by a pitch and Brooklyn Larson walked to load the bases. A singe by Olivia Richards plated Drewes, bringing Maddy Meulebroeck to the plate. Meulebroeck drove a pitch over the fence for a grand slam home run, giving Minnewaska a 15-8 lead.
Both teams kept scoring and the Wildcats managed four runs in their half of the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough to make up the deficit and the Lakers prevailed, 18-14.
Brooklyn Larson tallied three hits while Maddy Meulebroeck drove in six runs in the Lakers’ second win of the season.

Montevideo 0 Game 1
Minnewaska and Montevideo managed to get their doubleheader in despite a weather delay that forced a location change. The Lakers and Thunderhawks were due to play in Montevideo on Thursday, but storms and heavy rain delayed the game one day. Wet fields in Monte meant the game had to move to the playable fields at Minnewaska.
The Lakers combined the one-hit pitching of Brenna Larson and the slugging of Olivia Richards and Maddy Meulebroeck to take a 13-0 win in game one.
Richards and Meulebroeck each had three hits and combined for nine RBI in the Lakers third win of the season.
