After falling to Raymond last Wednesday night, the Starbuck Stars had a good weekend shutting out Kensington 9-0 on Saturday night and then defeated Regal 5-1 on Sunday.  The Stars improved their record to 9-4 on the season.  

June 22 at Marthaler Field

Stars 3 Raymond 8

Starbuck outhit Raymond 9 to 8, but couldn’t turn those hits into runs.  

Raymond got its bats going early, scoring six runs in the first five innings.  Starbuck cut the gap to 6-3 in the sixth inning before Raymond cemented its victory by adding two more runs in the ninth.

The Stars’ Matt Gruber went 3-for-5, including a solo home run.

June 25 at Marthaler Field

Stars 9 Kensington 0

The starts shut out Kensington on the home field Saturday night as Darion Alexander and Mitchel Gruber combined to throw the shutout. Alexander was the winning pitcher for the Stars with Gruber throwing two innings out of the bullpen.  Gruber induced a ground out to finish the game.

The Stars opened the scoring in the first inning when Matt Gruber had an RBI single

Torii Johnson when 2-4 at the plat to lead the Stars in hits and the Stars stole seven bases in the game.

June 26 at Regal

Stars 5 Regal 1

The Stars notched back-to-back wins on Sunday, defeating Regal 5-1 in County Line league play.  The game was tied at 1 with the Stars batting in the top of the sixth when Matt Gruber hit a solo homerun to spark the Stars. An RBI single by Mitchell Gruber tied the game in the fifth.

The Stars added three runs in the seventh behind a single by Matt Gruber and a double by Mitchell Gruber. 

The Stars tallied 12 hits on the day.  Darion Alexander, Andrew Toop, Matt Gruber, Jackson Hendrickson and Mitchell Gruber each collected two hits to lead the Stars.
