Local State Farm® agent, Amy Roers, was one of 100 agents nationwide who were nominated and selected for outstanding community engagement. As part of the recognition, agents chose one nonprofit to receive a $5,000 State Farm grant. She chose Pope County Hearts & Hands Food Shelf with 50% of the funds going to the Light House Food Shelf at Minnewaska Area High School. Last Tuesday, Roers and her team, Kacia Gaffaney and Elizabeth Bowen, presented Pope County Hearts & Hands and the Light House Food Shelf with the $5,000 grant from State Farm.  “Giving back to communities where we live and work is a big part of who we are at State Farm,” she said Roers. “It’s not enough to simply say we’re a ‘Good Neighbor,’ we embrace the responsibility to make this community better by being a part of a solution. It’s what being a good neighbor is all about.” Pictured from left are:  Lolly Stein, Pope County Food Shelf; Elizabeth Bowen, State Farm; Jake from State Farm (cardboard cutout);  Shirley Zemke, Pope County Food Shelf; Amy Roers, State Farm;  Mary Walsh, Light House Food Shelf; and Kacia Gaffaney, State Farm.
