Glenwood-Lowry Legion wins two more, drops two on Sunday

The Glenwood-Lowry Legion baseball team finished its regular season undefeated (11-0) with an 8-0 shutout over Wheaton last Monday.
The top seeded Glenwood-Lowry Legion team would keep its undefeated record in tact defeating Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa at Marthaler Field on Friday night for the first win of the playoffs.
Travelling to Parkers Prairie for games two and three of the playoffs, the Glenwood-Lowry Legion team lost a hard-fought game against Ashby 3-2. And then another heartbreaker, falling to Sauk Centre 7-6.
Monday, July 11

The Glenwood-Lowry Legion used a big fifth inning to defeat Wheaton. The team scored seven in the fifth innings led by Nathan Dell, Hunter Johnson and Jacob Blair, who all drove in runs for Glenwood-Lowry.
Blair got the victory for Glenwood-Lowry alowing just three hits over his six innings of work. Johnson helped in relief to preserve the shutout, pitching a scoreless seventh inning.
Glenwood-Lowry unleashed a hit parade at Wheaton totalling 18 hits in the game. Jacob Blair, PJ Johnson, Dylan Alexander, Hunter Johnson, Nathan Dell, Torii Johnson, Jack Majerus and Jack Larson all had multiple hits. PJ Johnson and Blair had three hits each, both going 3-4 to lead Glenwood-Lowry from the plate.

Despite giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, the Glenwood-Lowry Legion team didn’t waste anytime getting on top of Belegrade-Brooten-Elrosa in the first round of the sub-district playoffs at Marthaler Field on Friday night. Glenwood-Lowry scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back as pither Jacob Blair was solid from the mound the rest of the way.

After tying the game at two on a solo homerun by Dylan Alexander in the bottom of the fourth inning, Ashby came back and scored in the top of the sixth to take the lead 3-2. Glenwood-Lowry batters couldn’t push another run across the plate in their final two at bats.
Pitching was strong on both sides. PJ Johnson went the distance for Glenwood-Lowry, allowing just six hits and three runs. He struck out one and issued one walk.
Ashby’s Carter Spangler also went the distance holding Glenwood-Lowry to just five hits and two runs.
Dylan Alexander led Glenwood-Lowry at the plate, going 2-2 with a solo homerun and two RBIs. Jack Larson, Jack Majerus and Noah Jensen all had one hit in the game.

Game 3 of playoffs

Sauk Centre 7
Glenwood-Lowry played tough with Sauk Centre in the second game of the day at Parkers Prairie (third playoff) but again dropped a heart-breaker 7-6.
Glenwood-Lowry gave up a run in the first, but quickly responded getting 4 runs in the second and adding another in the fourth to lead Sauk Centre 5-1. Jacob Blair doubled on a 2-2 count to score two runs in that inning.
Sauk scored in the sixth, but Glenwood-Lowry answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, making the score 6-1 going into the seventh. That’s when Sauk rallied, scoring five runs to take a 7-6 lead.
Lowry-Glenwood couldn’t answer in the bottom of the seventh and lost for the second time in the district playoffs
Glenwood-Lowry collected seven hits in the game, while Sauk Center scattered nine hits.
Torii Johnson took the loss for Glenwood-Lowry giving up seven runs on the nine hits in his seven innings on the mound. He struck out two.
Levi Johnson went 3-3 with two RBIs and one run to lead his team in batting. Jack Majerus, Jacob Blair, Torii Johnson, and Dylan Alexander all had one hit in the game.
