Gloria and Jack Pfeifers to be featured at Bremness Gallery in Glenwood.

Summer at the Bremness will feature paintings by local artist, Gloria Pfeifer and wood carvings by Jack Pfeifer. The Gallery is open Fridays July 22 and 29 from 2-6 p.m. and on Saturdays July 23 and 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information go to Facebook.com/Bremness Gallery or Thumbdog Art.

The Pfeifers have spent many years honing their crafts. Jack began woodworking at a young age for his father’s construction business and that interest carried him through to college earning him an industrial arts and vocational rehabilitation therapy degree. His interest in woodcarving began about a decade ago and started with small simple objects. He now crafts very detailed human figures. For the Bremness series, Jack created carvings of freshwater fish using recycled wood and brass sheeting.

Gloria has always had an interest in the arts. She began painting after retiring from a career in map-making and GIS. She started by learning watercolor painting and has advanced to oils, acrylics, mixed media and pastels. Gloria presents an eclectic collection to the gallery with a perspective of what is happening in life at the time, including landscapes, pets, still lifes, murals and several more.

Also, available at the gallery will be greeting cards by Pfeifer, cookbooks from the Ann Bickle Heritage House and a display of history of the ABHH and Bremness Gallery.

There will be music in the backyard at 2 pm on Saturday, July 23, with “Nameless and Ageless.” Their unique music style features guitars, dulcimers and a flute. Come see who these local musicians are.
