Starbuck Stars scatter 16 hits in 10-2 win over NL-S

The Starbuck Stars jumped out to an early 3-1 lead on their way to a 10-2 victory over Norway Lake-Sunburg (NL-S) at Marthaler Field on Wednesday night.
The visiting team did score one run in the first inning, but the Stars answered with 3 in the bottom of the first. After Michael Gruber singled and Darion Alexander walked, Aaron Versteeg singled to load the bases and Mike Andreas reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Gruber and Alexander. Then, Jackson Hendrickson and Andrew Toop both singled, scoring Andreas.
The Stars gave up another run to NL-S in the third inning, but came back to score two in the fourth, two in the sixth and three in the eighth for the 10-2 win.
The three runs the Stars scored in the eighth were led with RBIs by Hendrickson and Toop.
Mitchell Gruber got the win for the Stars, allowing six hits and two runs in five innings of work. Drew Olsonawski threw four innings in relief, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out 7.
The Stars totaled 16 hits in the game, with Alexander, Toop, Michael Gruber, Andreas, Matt Gruber and Hendrickson all having multiple hits in the game. Toop, Michael Gruber and Alexander each had three hits in the game. The win improved the Stars’ record to 10-4 on the season.
The Stars will face Atwater on Friday at Marthaler Field starting at 7:30 p.m. before hosting Willmar on July 9.
