Alia Randt is the first Minnewaska Area “Athlete of the Week” for the 2022-23 school year, selected by Tara Reichmann, the head coach of the Minnewaska Area girls tennis team.

Alia is a ninth-grader on the girls tennis team playing first singles and is off to a 1-6 start playing against the toughest competition each team has to offer.  She is the daughter of Brad and Michal Randt and Alia also plays girls basketball and softball for the Lakers.

“Alia went from third doubles last year to first singles this past year, playing a very competitive and tough position for our team,” coach Reichmann said.  “She played a lot of tennis this summer to improve and during last week’s Litchfield triangular, she took the section singles’ champion from Litchfield to a 3rd set before losing in a close tiebreaker. 

“She works hard and never complains.  She definitely is a leader with her true commitment to the sport and our team.”
