The Pope County Farmers Market in Glenwood will kick of National Farmers Market Week on Saturday, Aug. 6 with “Kids Morning at the Market” from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Kids 12 and under will have the opportunity to make a flower art project, learn how to plant flowers and they can visit vendor Jenny at the “Build your own Bouquet Bar.”  Kids can choose to do one, two or all three activities.

The Farmers Market has been going very well this season with several new vendors, stated Kay Blauert, Executive Director of the Glenwood Lakes Area Welcome Center who manages the Pope County   Farmers Market Glenwood.

“We had rain for part of our first ‘Kids’ Morning at the Market’, however, the weather did cooperate later that morning and several families enjoyed the activity.  We’re having fun adding these children’s events and having these kids experience what the market is like,” Blauert added.

Market shoppers will have the opportunity to sign up for a Farmers Market “Gift Basket” filled with many different Items from the participating market vendors.  They will have three chances to register for the gift basket including on Saturday, Aug. 6, Tuesday Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 13.  The drawing will take  place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 and the winner need not be present at the drawing. We will  notify the winner immediately following the drawing.

The market is located on State Hwy 104 South in the parking lot next to the Pope County Museum on Tuesday evenings 4:-6: p.m. through August and Saturday mornings 8:30-11:30 a.m. through October (while supplies last).
