The Minnewaska Area High School Concert Choir has received one of the highest honors a choir can get in Minnesota. They have been invited to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Annual State Convention this February in Minneapolis. This will only be the second time in the school’s history this invitation has been extended as the last invitation was received in 1995. They are the smallest school that will be performing. Other schools invited include St. Michael/Albertville, Albert Lea, Austin and St. Louis Park. “We are in some very good company,” stated Gordy Moeller, “What an honor for our students!”

The performance will be on Thursday, Feb 16, at 1 p.m. at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Two motor coaches will leave the high school at 9:30 a.m. and return after the performance. There are several activities going on in the school that evening, and the students will be back for them. “This performance is a very big deal, and we need everyone to be present for it. As one director in our area told me, this is as rare as playing for a State Championship,” Moeller added.   The Minnewaska Area High School Choir will be featured, including a photo, in a future issue of the Pope County Tribune & Starbuck Times.
