Rolling Forks Vineyards recently hosted members of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS). The FAS links U.S. agriculture to the world to enhance export opportunities and global food security.
The visit was part of a statewide agricultural tour that included ag experts from 20 different countries and the European Union who traveled the state of Minnesota to learn how Minnesota contributes food and ag products to the world.
During their visit to Rolling Forks Vineyards, the group learned about the winery’s local operation and about different grape hybrids the winery grows in Minnesota. The group also enjoyed lunch provided by Rolling Forks.
“It was such an honor to host the experts from the USDA in Washington D.C., and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture in St. Paul, Minn.,” said Melanie Cihlar, co-owner of Rolling Forks. “We appreciate the opportunity to provide a deeper understanding of the growing Minnesota wine industry.”
Ag tours help FAS staff identify problems, provide practical solutions and continue to advance opportunities for U.S. agriculture and support U.S. foreign policy around the globe.
